Kazakhstan's Democratic Forces Forum

No way out…
New leaders are all alike

A regular issue of the information bulletin “Human Rights in Kazakhstan and in the World” published by Kazakh International Bureau for Human Rights is now available.

The issue contains an interview with the well-known scholar, Republican People's Party of Kazakhstan Executive Committee member Nurbulat Masanov, who has been harassed because of his political activities. Some publications deal with repressions against Kazakhstan media. Materials from Tajikistan provide details on the arrest of Islamic Liberation Party members. Opposition in Uzbekistan does not feel comfortable as well. One of these days members of the underground party were given severe sentences in court.

Readers of the bulletin will hardly fail to notice the likeliness in the political scenarios of Central Asian leaders who have been trying to hold on to power by suppression of dissidence, and harassment of the opposition and independent media.
