Kazakh opposition party presents draft blueprint of national idea Almaty, 26th July: The deputy chairman of the executive committee of the Republican People's Party of Kazakhstan (RPPK), Amirzhan Kosanov, presented at a briefing yesterday a draft blueprint of the national idea which has been drawn up by the RPPK. The creators of the RPPK blueprint think that the rights and freedoms of a person and of the citizen in a democratic society should be guaranteed and form the basis of the national idea. Kosanov stressed that the RPPK was the first amongst the republic's public and political organizations to draw up the draft document on the national idea. Kosanov said the party intended to present this draft document to the public for consideration and approval. At the same time, he noted, the RPPK would not lay claim to the authorship of the final document on the national idea if it is adopted on the basis of this document. Moreover, at the briefing Kosanov presented a copy of the decision of an appeals court of Rome, saying that the former prime minister of Kazakhstan and the present RPPK leader, Akezhan Kazhegeldin, was detained on 12th July in Italy by the country's border guard services after Kazakh official bodies had requested Interpol [to detain him].
